Why a Bigger Pumpkin Package Means More Than Just More Pumpkins

When people compare pumpkin porch packages, the first thing they naturally notice is size.

A larger package means more pumpkins. More pumpkins mean a fuller porch, more color along the walkway, and more of that wonderful “fall has officially arrived here” feeling.

But there is another important difference, too: larger displays give us room to use more specialty varieties.

That is where a pretty pumpkin porch becomes a truly memorable one.

More Space Means More Variety

A smaller display can be beautiful with a thoughtful mix of classic orange pumpkins, a few lighter colors, and interesting shapes. Sometimes a small entryway only needs that perfect seasonal touch.

As a display gets larger, though, we have more room to layer in the pumpkins that give it personality.

That may mean white Luminas tucked between richer orange varieties, soft peach Cinderellas with their wonderfully flattened shape, blue-gray pumpkins, bumpy exotics, striped gourds, or pumpkins with unusually beautiful stems. These varieties create contrast in color, shape, and texture—and that contrast is what keeps a larger display from looking like one big orange pile.

Not that we have anything against a big orange pile. We just believe it can be even better with a few surprises mixed in.

Specialty Pumpkins Make the Difference

Traditional jack-o’-lantern pumpkins are classics for a reason. They are cheerful, familiar, and perfect for giving a porch that unmistakable fall look.

Specialty pumpkins do something different.

A Cinderella pumpkin brings a broad, storybook shape. White pumpkins brighten a display and help the orange varieties stand out. Exotic and heirloom-style pumpkins add texture, color, and the kind of detail that makes someone pause on the sidewalk and take a closer look.

Many of these varieties take more planning to grow and source. They may be available in smaller quantities, cost more than standard pumpkins, or need a little extra care during harvest and transport.

They are not just filler. They are part of the design.

It Is About Layers, Not Just Quantity

A beautiful larger porch display is built in layers.

The larger pumpkins create the foundation. Medium pumpkins fill out the shape of the arrangement. Smaller pumpkins and gourds help connect everything, nestling into open spaces and adding detail near the front of the display.

Then come the specialty varieties—the unexpected colors, unusual textures, and great stems that make the whole arrangement feel collected and intentional.

The goal is never to make a porch look crowded. It is to make it look abundant.

A larger package gives us more opportunities to create that effect around your entryway, steps, walkway, planters, or even beneath a favorite tree. Instead of repeating the same pumpkin again and again, we can build a display with more visual interest from every angle.

Your Porch Gets the Mix Without the Hunt

One of the best parts of ordering a Blue Cottage Porch display is that you do not have to become a pumpkin expert—or visit three different pumpkin patches—to find the good ones.

We handle the sorting, sourcing, hauling, and arranging. We look for the pumpkins that work beautifully together, from the classic orange favorites to the specialty varieties that make a larger display feel extra special.

So yes, a bigger package includes more pumpkins.

But it also includes more layers, more texture, more color, and more of the distinctive varieties that help turn a porch into a fall moment worth coming home to.

Because when it comes to pumpkins, more is wonderful.
