Your Pumpkins Are Growing in Nebraska!

Pumpkin season is coming—and we have proof!

While we’re getting everything ready here in Houston for another season of beautiful fall porches, something pretty exciting is happening about 800 miles away in south-central Nebraska: your pumpkins are growing.

At Blue Cottage Porch, this really is a family affair. Adam grew up in Nebraska, and this year his parents, aunts and uncles are all getting in on the pumpkin business—planting, tending and growing pumpkins that will eventually make their way from the family farm to your front porch in Houston.

Last Year’s Pumpkins → This Year’s Harvest

Our 2026 crop actually started last fall. We saved seeds from some of the pumpkins we loved in last year’s harvest and brought them back to Nebraska. This spring, those seeds went into the ground—and now look at them!

The vines have taken off, the patch is full, and pumpkins in all sorts of shapes and colors are beginning to peek out from underneath those enormous leaves.

Not Just Orange

If you’ve seen one of our displays, you know we have a soft spot for the unusual ones. Creamy whites, soft colors, interesting shapes and, of course, those gorgeous traditional oranges all help us create the layered look that makes every porch different.

Right now, they're still tucked among the vines in Nebraska. In just a few weeks, they'll be harvested, loaded up and headed south.

From Our Family to Yours

There are a lot of steps between planting a pumpkin seed in Nebraska and placing the perfect pumpkin on a front porch in Houston. This year, we love knowing that so many of those steps are being done by people we love.

Adam's family grows them. We bring them home to Texas. Then we get to turn them into something beautiful for your family to enjoy.
